Add MessageHad the best time when the baseball team took it over for a short while!! GO MASS!
Ha ha! I remember you...
There may be some video of the '97 ho-down floating around. When's the statute of limitations expire?!
Hodown 97 was the best day of drinking ever. I knew it was going to be a good time when I started the slip
AAHHHH good ol' Hobart....the memories like drinking from the keg tap at 6:30 am after a rager of a night or all those LATE night mini raves in the dark cellars...
Oh and Hoe-down 97 all time favorite...throw that mud girl!!
I forgot to add one more factoid about 1997... Mr. Grandonico (owner) had to check into the hospital the next morning reporting "chest pain" after seeing the damage inflicted for Hoedown 97.
Being a part of the "early years" (circa '93-'97), I have to say 1997 was the best year for a few reasons.
1.) 14 Gilreath officially got the party started. Mr. Grandonico (owner at the time) set up shop on our front steps in an effort to end the Hoedown once and for all. Even the local package/liquor stores were banned from selling kegs that weekend. We fed Grandonico a few hot dogs to made him feel comfortable he stopped the party, and he went on his way. Within an hour there were 1000 people there.
2.) It rained... we had mud-wrestling matches... and all the ladies decided to use our bathroom to wash up.
3.) My cousin passed out in the upstairs bathroom with his head point towards the door. When I tried to retrieve his body, all I could see were his cheeks dragging across the mud ridden floor between the door.
4.) I officially passed out for an hour about 3 feet from my stereo that was blasting Cypress Hill at volume 10. My speakers never worked right again, nor did my hearing.
5.) I recall seeing a full beer stuck to the side of Gilreath (via mud) for a full week after the party at the apartments highest point, defying all laws of physics.
6.) I also recall playing wiffle ball a few days later and having beer cans unearth themselves from the depths of Hoedown glory.
7.) It was the first year we made the news.
8.) Gilreath was fined over $10,000 in damages.
9.) I had 6 inches of mud in the bathtub the next morning and used a shovel to scoop and toss out the window.
10.) ... that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Gotta love Hobart. Back in the day when I was at Amherst High even us little fellas would go in there like we owned the place, get some college girls, take what we needed to get banged up, and maybe slang a thing or two. Represent'n for the biggest Hobart vets of all time ARHS. Hoedown MVP's 1995 - 2005
Hoedown of '02 was by far the most insane Hoedown of all time...EVER. I am still hungover.
I'm an oldie!! I'm a Hobart Lane partier from back in the early 90s! Aaah the memories (well, barely, considering all the massive quantities beer!)
