College. Amherst. UMass. Hobart Lane. Everybody knows it. Whether you lived here, knew somebody here, partied here or even if you hated it, the name instantly takes you back. For those of us in the know, it is undeniably one of the most recognizable street names in the State. For you recent alumnuses, it reminds you just how bad the real world is. For you older family folk, it represents everything your kids will be lying to you about when they call you from their dorms to tell you they'll be studying. If only they knew you 20 years ago.

I first got the idea for this web site when I was in, of all places, Budapest, Hungary. While in a pub, I heard the familiar twang of Reveah. After the obligatory "Kellllly's" Roast Beef exchange, I told him I went to Umass, his first words were "Ahhh, the Hobart Ho-Down" followed by a tip of the pints and a toast, and a drunken "you should start a web site!"

So, while it continues to be a work in progress, please browse the site, email your tips and suggestions; CONTRIBUTE. Tell us your war stories, try and find old friends (screw MySpace), UPLOAD UMASS PICS, Photoshop the Street Sign and upload it!

Check out The Lane merchandise. You wouldn't believe the people who come up to us all around Boston when we wear our Hobart Lane tee shirts! Walking around in the rain Marathon Monday, every block somebody was pointing and toasting to The Lane...If you've spotted us around Town, post it!
